Objects of Culture and Science
Reimagining Ethnographic Museum Collections
Objects of Culture and Science is a three-year project financed by the Swedish Research Council.
Over the past 50 years, the ocean currents on the East coast of Australia have started to change. With warmer water, the ecosystems that used to flourish along the Tasmanian east coast started to die.
Ethnographic museums across Europe are full of objects that can help us think afresh the dangerous ways our worlds are being reconfigured by climate change.
Objects of Culture and Science is active in Sweden and in Australia.
The project is hosted by the Department of Historical Studies at Gothenburg University
Shell stringing – a collection of online multimedia resources on the tradition of shell stringing in Tasmanian Aboriginal culture. The resource is part of The Orb, a project developed by Aboriginal Education Services, Department of Education, Tasmania.
